"I just wanted to thank you for setting my granddaughters on the path to a lifelong love of music. Your lessons with the girls have been exceptionally thoughtful, encouraging and stimulating. You are a gifted teacher."

“What a wonderful connection you have with your students, a truly excellent piano teacher!'“
Stuart Andrew, BMus, AMusA, MVMTA (he/him)
Stuart's teaching is holistic and thorough, covering:
An integrated and whole-body approach to technique
An accessible and artistic approach to musicianship and performance
An integrated approach to music theory
Audiation (the ability to "think music") as a core ingredient to musical understanding, enjoyment, and skill
Enriching activities beyond playing pieces, such as improvisation, composition, appreciation, and analysis
Lessons are fun, relaxed, and student-paced. In-person tuition is offered, and, depending on circumstances, busy or distant students may take a hybrid approach (some in-person, some virtual) to their instruction.
Jazz, Classical, Contemporary, Pop. All Ages.
-
4–6 years
Informal group music classes provide a wonderful, creative, and play-based foundation for further tuition and lifelong musical enjoyment.
-
6–12 years
Lesson content grows with students’ learning capability and transitions into structured, creative, and holistic group or one-on-one piano lessons. Growing kids can begin to own and direct their musical journey.
-
12–18 years
In one-on-one classes, teenagers are free to play the music they choose and may pursue formal awards through the AMEB, ABRSM, etc. VCE students can receive extra tuition in Music Performance, Music Style and Composition, and Music Investigation.
-
Adults
Knowing where to start with piano can be intimidating! The first lesson with any adult is an informal chat to help Stuart meet you where you are and determine an ideal and tailored lesson direction (Classical, Jazz, Billy Joel, Taylor Swift whatever).
-
Continuing and Resuming Lessons
Students of all ages and levels are welcome to continue their musical journey—no matter how long ago they last played.
-
Families
Where possible, siblings have their lessons scheduled back-to-back and may overlap some or all of their lesson time as a family group class. Plus, there’s 5% off for every additional student from the same family.
